This Practice provides heat exchanger design and fabrication criteria and methodology from the User to a Designer and/or the Manufacturer. This Practice is also intended as guidance for the development of purchase specifications covering the construction of new shell-and-tube heat exchangers which meet the philosophy and requirements of Section VIII, Division 1 {or 2} of the Code and TEMA Standards of the Tubular Exchangers Manufacturers Association.

This Practice shall be used in conjunction with PIP VEDST003 – Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Specification Sheet, and PIP VEFV1100 – Vessel/S&T Heat Exchanger Standard Details, in order to comprise a complete heat exchanger purchase specification.
